It's 29th today...

4 lil' thoughts
Didn't realise it's 29th today. It's exactly 2 months to exam. Scary... I have not studied a single chapter and Mr. Too has been pressuring us to form study group.

Yet another problem for me. I have never studied in group. What should I do to contribute? I don't really have time to prepare.... :-(

And workload is getting heavier now. Health is at alarming state, one day gastric, the next migraine then diarhoea.... God, can't believe all these happening...

Took MC on Friday. No choice, couldn't turn up at work looking pale and in pain. Prepared for the worst, hope for the best.

July, the birthday month

3 lil' thoughts
I will be away to Wuxi from Mon, 16th to Sat, 21st July'07.

Not sure if it is because I am born in July, and thus I pay more attention to birthdays in July, or because really many people were born in July. ;-p

Just to name a few:
Sham's - 4th July
My dad's - 10th July (if remember correctly, Wai Yee and Jackie Cheung share the same bday also)
Max's - 11th July
Kenneth's & Jet Kie's - 12th July
Mike - 14th July
Mei Yan's - 15th July
My niece's - 17th July
Far'east's - 20th July
Wallace's - 21st July
Alex's - 24th July
My sis' - 31st July

My birthday falls on 19th July, and I am blessed to "celebrate" it with my twin bro in States (we were born ON the same day) and Shirley (who is 2 years older).

This year, I am celebrating in Wuxi. Real summer birthday for the first time. It's not gonna be fun coz it's gonna be hot.

Pray hard that those bad throats and bad nose I have been supressing for so long will not explode there. Else, Mr. Fever, Mr. Cough, Ms. Flu will come and visit me at one go.

Well, received my first birthday present from him. Because he didn't know my actual date then, he gave it to me in June when I was leaving for Wuxi for 2 weeks, fearing he might missed my birthday by the time I tell him the date. It's my first birthday present in years, to be honest. And I guess it's not cheap. [And remember, I mentioned in May, that the wallet I was using very old already? It's a great gift, isn't it?]

He also gave me a hp strap with bell, bought in Narita Airport. The bell reminds me of him whenever it rang. "For safe journey", he said.

Next, he gave me the infamous coffee from Vietnam with a maker. I have yet tried the coffee. But I am grateful he thought of me whenever he travels. :-)

My PR Renewed....

2 lil' thoughts
Remember my post about my PR was about to expire? Well, I renewed the Re-Entry Permit (REP) today.

Ever since the meeting with the customer I mentioned, I asked Ricky, my ex colleague who has just renewed his. So, I went online and download the form and prepared the necessary. If you are looking forward to renew yours, please prepare in advance, else you’ll wanna kill yourself for a wasted trip.

Log on to Immigration & Checkpoints Authority for detailed information.

For my case, as an employee, I have to bring these to the CIA:
1) Completed form (can choose to renew either 5 or 10 years. S$10 fee for each year)
2) A letter from company (must dated less than 1 month from your renewal)
3) CPF contribution history for the past 12 years (seriously, you MUST get the history! Do not go there with your previous Jan to Dec history. I’ll tell you more later.)
4) Income Tax Notices of Assessment for the last 3 years (if you mis-placed any of your assessment, you have to go to IRAS and retrieve the document, paying S$12 and 30 cents for the printing.)

As I mentioned, I rarely take leave unless if it is ultimate necessary, I chose to renew mine today, Saturday. When I reached Lavender station at 5 mins before 8am (the official opening hour, they are closing at 1pm on Saturdays), I thought I was early and I may be able to leave real early.

You won’t believe it if I tell you. But as I emerged from the station towards the building, I saw LOOOONG queue. So, what else, just follow the end of the line. Least did I expect, the line went round the building, 2 times. Yes, you read this right. 2 freaking times. Lucky though, it’s Sg, and the line was just to enter the building. So, the crowd was diverted into different levels for different purposes.

When I reached Level 5 for Permanent Residents, the queue was quite long, just not that bad. Got my queue number which was 01035, the number they were serving was like ten or so, and there were 9 counters. So, I didn’t have to wait long.

My number was called, I presented the officer with everything I prepared. And she die die wants me to produce the 12 months CPF contribution history. Despite my CPF statement saying my last contribution was in Jun’07 and company letter dated few days ago that I am still employed. And she asked me to go to Level 1, use the online computer there to print out my statement.

Seriously, it may sound like my fault. But I tried retrieving my contribution history few days ago but the command failed. So, I thought a Statement would be fine. Sigh… So, down I went, to queue further for the online computer, with 6 people in front of me. Though just 6, the waiting was damn long, and there wasn’t any officer to extend assistance. The lady in front of me had problem with hers, so, she asked me to help. Then, my turn and I rushed back to Level 5.

(At this point of time, I wished I went there with someone…)

Within 15 mins after the up and down, I got my PR renewed, for 10 years starting from 14th July 2007.

The officer told me that since I have my REP renewed, probably I would wanna extend my access card expiry date. And I have to do it in Level 2. So, there I went, and in less than half hour, I am done, with my access card extended to Dec’08.

Well, all in all, I was quite pissed when the officer asked me to get the contribution history. Such an inflexible system. :-(

8 random things you do not know about me

5 lil' thoughts
Previously, Michelle tagged me the 7 random things about me. Now, she tagged me, 8 random things you do not know about me.

God, looks like I am gonna reveal some dark secret here. [ahem, sorry to disappoint, no dark secret... haha...]

1) I am a workaholic. People who knows me, will know this.
2) Which means, I will not take MC or leave unless I really need to.
3) Which also means, I will work regardless of the hour, whenever I can.
4) Which brings to, working on my emails when lecturer is teaching.
5) Which brings to, the first thing I do when I wake up, is to check my emails.
6) Which also means, anything and everything else will not be priority, and this includes better half, family and friends.
7) Which is bad, as you guessed it, I do not have many friends in Sg.
8) But ever since I visited K in hospital on Tues, I realised that there are something else other than work. HEALTH is very important.

Actually this explains why I have never actually been away for a proper vacation. Can anyone help????

Ok, to tag 8 bloggers:

This is another tag, by Kev, my fav blogger besides Fiona.

Kev is a 27 year-old Singaporean who is studying his PhD in Oz. One smart guy actually, coz he "jumped" to PhD from an Hons degree, so, you imagine. And his gf (fiancée) is also pursuing her PhD, in Sg. Long distance relationship, but need not worry. Coz Kev proposed when she was 21, cool right? To think we have always thought "nerds" will not get involved in relationships. hahaha... just kidding Kev. Recently, Kev is stressed up with his experiment and the way he goes out of it, counting down and planning for the walkabout holiday with gf in Jan'08. I teased him saying I am not sure where I would be next month, to think he actually planning for something MONTHS away. :-)

Ok, I thank him for tagging me. :-)

1. Write a short paragraph at the beginning of your post and link back to the blog that put you on the list in the paragraph. This isn’t a suggestion. You need to break up the duplicate content. Someone took the time to add you so the least you can do is give them an extra link back.

2. Copy the list of originals below COMPLETELY and add it to your blog. If you would like a different keyword for your blog then change it when you do your post and it should pass to most blogs with that keyword.

3. Take the adds from the blog that added you and place them in the “Originals” list.

4. Add at least 1 new blog that you KNOW is using the DO FOLLOW plugin to the list in the “My Adds” section. (Add no more than 5!) Let the people you’ve added know, so that they can keep the list going!

HERE'S TO THE GIRLS IN MY LIFE . . . . . . . .

What's so poignant about this picture?

Well, it shows a line of little girls holding hands facing the immensity of ocean waves. Alone they might be washed away, but together they stand strong. Thank you each for holding my hand somewhere along the way when I was facing a wave of my own. I hope you will reach for my hand when your own wave threatens.

All of us girls.. Old and young... Near and far... Hold special memories of good times we've shared. We've had our share of hard times when our friends were there to make us feel better.
We've shared... our hearts our time our secrets our fears our hopes and our dreams.

Let us never break the chain of friends!

I am only as strong as the caffeine I drink, the hair spray I use and the girlfriends I have. Here's to you! Why do we only have parties for each other when one of us gets married, pregnant, has a birthday, or retires? What would most of us do without our sisters, confidants, and shopping, lunching and traveling girlfriends? Let's celebrate each other for each other's sake!

Someone will always be prettier.
Someone will always be smarter.

Their house will be bigger.

They will drive a better car.

Their children will do better in school.

And their husband will fix more things around the house.

So let it go, Be Happy! And love yourself and your circumstances. Think about it.

The prettiest woman in the world can have trouble in her heart. And the most highly favored woman on your job may be unable to have children. And the richest woman you know, she's got the car, the house, the clothes....might be lonely. And the word says if "I have not Love, I have nothing." So, again, love you. Love who you are. Look in the mirror in the morning and smile and say

I am too blessed to be stressed and too anointed to be disappointed!" I like that! "Winners make things happen. Loser s let things happen" Be Blessed ladies and pass this on to encourage another woman. "To the world you might be one person, But to one person you just might be the world".

A long long day...

4 lil' thoughts
When I woke up this morning, I didn’t feel like going out. It was raining, it was cool and I felt like pigging at home instead. But I know I do not have enough time to take the assessment some other day. I need to renew my PR by next Sat if possible. Else, I will not have the valid re-entry permit to enter Sg. :-p

Despite the heavy rain, I made my way to Novena. To my surprise, my queue number was called the moment I pressed the button. Haha.. it is indeed lucky day, 07.07.07. :-) But I paid S$12 to retrieve the document and S$0.30 to print it. Sigh... money making. Good news is, they are going to put this service online, so, there is no need to go there in person. Not sure about the fees though, if it's chargeable.

Then AT came to meet me at United Square and we had breakfast. He said he needed to get another key chain at Bishan, so we made our way to Junction 8. While waiting for the stall to open, we had fruit juice in the food court. Then we went to Fairprice downstairs to get his Dynamo. As you know by now, there is no one else and nothing else in AT’s mind other than the gf. AT decided to go to Guardian to get some vitamin pills for the gf and I recognized the pharmacist as our junior in high school. My bro’s friend to be exact. So I spoke to her in Canto, if she is from KL, she said yes. And if she is from SAb, she said yes. And I told her, I am WP’s sister. She looked surprised, but then she recognized me later, but not AT. Haha… what a small small world…

We stayed in his condo until 2 plus before rushing off to lunch and to my school to attend the presentation at 4pm. AH is kind enough to let us sit through his Black Belt project presentation. Original plan was to visit K after presentation, but it was canceled. Maybe I should go tomorrow or on Tuesday. I do not feel good not visiting any sooner. According to E, K can’t eat solid food. :-( Poor K.

AT in my class

AT on last Sat, with the Agatha chain he bought for gf

While waiting for CJ’s call, I went to Hougang Mall to return the boring book I borrowed before I went to Wuxi. Didn’t finish even 2 chapters of it. And I’ve got 2 newly borrowed books to last me till my next Wx trip on 16th July’07. Sigh.. yet another hot and humid trip. Can anyone give me some tips how to prevent heat stroke? Please…..

It was a mistake going to Hougang Mall coz I realize now, I spend a lot whenever I shop there. Ended up buying 4 skirts and 1 blouse at COAX, 2 blouses at Giordano and a pair of sandal at URS. Because it’s my birthday month, COAX gave further discount of 10% on top of the member discount of 10%. I actually wanted to buy a handbag in URS, but weighing the smaller and the bigger bag, I put them down and decided not to buy either. Still considering actually… hehee… but I have already spent 200 over in just 2 hours. :-(

Met up with CJ at Café Cartel coz I was famished. Yet another wrong choice. Do not order Teriyaki Chicken Pasta if you do not like sweet stuffs. I hate this dish man. I think Café Cartel is too Asianised nowadays. Sigh…. Not worth the money I paid. :-( and spoiled my appetite towards Italian food man…

Reached home at 10.45, ironed my clothes and swept the floor. Now waiting for my hair to dry and type this entry with my eyes half closed. It has been a long, but fruitful day.

He is coming back from Vietnam tomorrow and I am going to the airport. :-)

2 lil' thoughts
It’s going to be an early day tomorrow. Gotta go to IRAS early morning to get my Yr 2006 assessment, coz I misplaced the piece of paper when I moved to the East. Then I’ll hang around with AT until time to go to school for a project presentation.

Just now in class, I asked about K, whom had slipped disc when the course started. Heard from E, K is diagnosed with colon cancer 2 weeks ago. Which was when he kept complaining about fever and not feeling well. My heart sank, how come so sudden?

K is our "unofficial" secretary in class. He would send whatever lecturer gave us via his Blackberry. And he was the one who got everyone's contact, making sure our email addresses are correct and wrote to school to complain about the air-cond. And sometimes, he send me smses when lecturer is teaching, thought I was in China and etc. :-(

Cancer cell seems so scary…. They are in us, and they attack. Poor K… thus, we arrange to visit him in hospital tomorrow, after the presentation. Maybe we can update him about the course also. I pray for his health, for his well being.

I will be meeting CJ whom is back for a short week holiday in Sg at night, for supper. I guess it’s kinda rush for him this trip back. But we have to meet, coz we meet only once a year. I have to squeeze time, and he has to too.

I’ll update about tomorrow. Gonna see see look look AT’s condo in Novena.

I missed Penang...

0 lil' thoughts

I told Grace in Penang that I will go back on the week of 20th July. Then she wrote an email informing the 4 musketeers telling them I am going back. I also told silai that I will be visiting her and baby. But she’s going to scold me and ignore me for some time now, coz I have to go Wuxi again.

I am really sorry, for not keeping my promise once again. I am still gathering my courage to call you to cancel my trip. Sigh….

I told the musketeers that I will definitely make my way back end of the year, of course, after my exam. Angie replied by saying she hope I will not be back end of Nov, coz she’ll deliver then. OMG, I am so happy for Angie.

Last I went back to Penang was May’06 to attend our dear Angie’s BIG day to SC. And she is having baby this year. Maybe it’s Dhana’s or Kai Sin’s or Grace’s turn next year, as we always joked, then, this Royal Highness will make her way back every year. :-)

Well, wasn’t I right? That Malaysian population is increasing….? :-)

I was reading Kev's post about Blogsvertise and I thought, why not.

It works just like PPP, so, start writing and earning your way...

We are not getting younger....

1 lil' thoughts
I chatted with Mike the Friday before I went to Wuxi.

I asked how is he, Michelle (the wife) and Miracle (the daughter) doing. And he told me Miracle is very cute now, learning how to make noises and flipping over.

I said, “great to heart that”.

Next, he said “when are you going to make one?” ***literally stunned by his question***

Then this dreadful conversation:

Mike: We are not young anymore, coming to 30 already.
Me: But we baru turning 2* next month wo.
Mike: What will you be getting for yourself as birthday gift?
Me: Still thinking.
Mike: A husband perhaps.
Me: How to get myself a husband. It’s not in my wish list. (started to get quite annoyed)
Mike: Err… go out and look Just pick anyone.
Me: Just pick anyone?? Cannot be so cincai one lar. I just wanna concentrate in work.. that’s more important for now.
Mike: Wah.... your work ain’t going to accompany you to old age. Next thing you know, you're gonna be in your fifties and still alone.
Me: But working is a happy thing for now. You sound too negative gua.
Mike: That is temporary only you need to have a long term plan also. Not to say too negative, but just being down to earth in reality.
Me: It's not easy to find someone u feel like spending the rest of life with. You are lucky to have found her, and it's reciprocated.
Mike: It's not luck. Relationship requires constant work.
Mike: Love don't just blossom like that. Even after the marriage, things are not always blissful.
Me: That’s the scary part.
Mike: But that's the exciting part. Handle it well and your life will be meaningful.
Mike: Handle it wrongly and your life will be a living hell.
Mike: That is why God is here to aid us.
Me: I lose faith.
Mike: But it's never too late to get it back again.
Me: Need help of coz.
Mike: That why friends like me are here.
Me: Haha... I am lucky.

End of the conversation, I was quite pissed. As usual, when others tried to convince me that the other side of the pie is tastier…

I went shopping with AT on Sat, from 5 up to 10 plus at night. We went to Junction 8 and Orchard to shop for his gifts for gf. :-) Our drop dead romantic AT... hahaha..

He wanted to watch Transformers but I refused. It’s really not my type of movie… but he is going to kill me if he knows I watched it on Sunday.

And I was so sleepy that I fell asleep for a split second…

Well, it’s not that the show was not nice (many people would say they have their thumbs up or even toes up for the show). R said he wants to get the DVD. OMG, we have just finished a show that put me to sleep, and he wants to get the DVD to watch again?

I was sort of excited when the show first started. I have long forgotten what Transformers were all about, except for the part the robots can transform, obviously. :-p

But as the show went on, I was getting more and more tired and sleepy and yawned a couple of times that he asked me to sleep if too bored…

What would you do if.....

2 lil' thoughts
Well, this is dedicated to the female readers out there.

"If you were to find your better half (be it your bf or your hubby) having affair with someone and you caught him red-handed, how would you react to the situation?"

Option A, you scold the woman and then scold your better half.
Option B, you thank the woman, ask her to get lost and then confront your better half.

There were no other options, but I will choose neither. If it happens to me, I would choose to walk away, without confronting anyone. He said I should have given a chance for explanation. But I do not think it's necessary. I will not bother to waste even another breath on this man, ever again.

Well, why thank the woman, you would ask. I am not sure either. But heard that it's a kind of psychological stuffs. If you thank the woman for her service to your better half, then you appear more "superior" compared to the "ungrateful couple".

My opinion, if this kind of thing happened, you do not and would not want to appear any superior or inferior, coz you wish you just vanished in the thin air.
